Synopsis for "Tower of Babel, Part 1: Survival of the Fittest"

Ra's al Ghul is preparing his ultimate plan to decrease the human population on earth and taking out the JLA at the same time, and he needs his daughter Talia for the mission.

Ra's first step in the plan is to distract his greatest enemy, Batman, the "Detective". At that moment, Bruce Wayne arrives at his parents' graves, only to find that they're empty.

Martian Manhunter is attacked by a missile that contained some nanobots that stick to his skin, causing his signal to disappear. Wonder Woman and Flash arrive to investigate a fire in a forest in Germany and they discover that J'onn's skin is burning, causing the fire. Meanwhile, at a U.N. conference, Plastic Man and Aquaman arrive to mediate disputes between Turkey and Rhapastan, when assassins, referring to them as "JLA targets," burst in. They dose Aquaman with modified fear toxin, designed to make him pathologically afraid of the water his survival requires, and shatter Plastic Man, having first frozen him. Superman calls Batman for assistance, but is ignored, as Batman is still distracted by the search for his parents' coffins.

With the league distracted, Ra's Al Ghul proceeds to activate a device to turn the written word into "Babble". At the JLA headquarters, Manhunter, Plastic Man, and Aquaman are being tended for their injuries, when they realize that someone is targeting all of them. Seeing that Green Lantern has yet to make an appearance, Wonder Woman and Flash rush to his appartment, only to discover that they're too late. Kyle is blind.
