"Back To The Wall": Scott, Barda, and Lightray bring Tigra and the unconscious Thor to Supertown. The Asgardian god wakes up and starts fighting the Genesisians, who struggle

Quote1 The great comedy of this play we live in has always been clear to me, Kanto. If that were not the case, would I have appointed an armored harrigan to head my "orphanage," or seen in a preening clotheshorse the talent necessary to make a master assassin? Quote2

Jack Kirby's Fourth World #3 is an issue of the series Jack Kirby's Fourth World (Volume 1) with a cover date of May, 1997.

Synopsis for "Back To The Wall"

Scott, Barda, and Lightray bring Tigra and the unconscious Thor to Supertown. The Asgardian god wakes up and starts fighting the Genesisians, who struggle to contain him. Highfather manages to calm Thor, but Tigra insists they are wasting time while Darkseid prepares his most devastating scheme, one he's been planning for longer than anyone can know. But Izaya reassures her that he knows Darkseid's extent. Highfather explains that, even before the war between both worlds, Darkseid always believed there were other gods in other worlds that predated them, born from the same explosion that created Apokolips and New Genesis. Darkseid's goal always was to accumulate power, stealing it from these other gods. Thor confirms what Highfather said because the Asgardians knew about Darkseid's scheme, but he was afraid to attack Asgard because of their link to the Old Gods. He also explains that Asgard lost Odin, the center and source of their power, and Darkseid will use that chance to attack them.

Elsewhere in New Genesis, Claudia, Dave, Harvey, and Victor wait for Highfather to return them to Earth. Takion shows up and explains to them that he was also human before his transfiguration.

Mister Miracles conceives a plan to save the Asgardian gods, and he calls for the help of the Forever People. More specifically, from Serifan and his Cosmic Cartridges. Using a device created by Vykin, Scott, Barda, and Serifan teleport to the Source Wall. They approach Odin's giant statue on the Wall, but the Source keeps shooting energy beams to keep them away. Scott and Serifan fly against the current, and the kid shoots one of his cartridges at Odin's statue, freeing the Asgardian god from the Wall.

They return to New Genesis, where Thor reunites with his father. Metron also shows up to deliver bad news: Darkseid has mobilized a massive fleet of warships to destroy Earth and all the cosmos.
