Jack Kirby's Fourth World #5 is an issue of the series Jack Kirby's Fourth World (Volume 1) with a cover date of July, 1997.

Synopsis for "A Choice Of Gods"

Beatufil Dreamer casts an illusion that makes Darkseid's forces believe they destroyed Earth. Metron detects the ruse, so he uses the distraction to investigate Darkseid's Oblivion Bomb. As his readings predicted, the machine can collapse the entire universe into a black hole, and only Orion's Astro Force can contain the explosion. Metron returns to New Genesis to learn that Orion is alive but unconscious, and the only one capable of restoring him is Takion, who communes with the Source to retrieve Orion's Astro Force.

Big Barda, Lightray, and Big Bear also notice the effect of Dreamer's vision, so they break into the fleet's flagship while the enemy is distracted. They reach the ship's leader, who gives up. Suddenly, Darkseid shows up in the room, and the ship crew rebels after they recognize him as the one who killed their gods, so Darkseid kills them in turn. Before dying, one of the crewmates activates the Oblivion Bomb. Fortunately, the recovered Orion shows up in time to contain the explosion.

With the crisis averted, the Genesisians make a deal with the alien crew: voluntarees from New Genesis will replace the gods slain by Darkseid on each planet.

Meanwhile, on Earth, a woman named Christine Little asks Ted Brown and Shilo Norman to help her find her father, Oberon.

Elsewhere, Darkseid and Orion banish from the fleet to talk privately. Darkseid senses something familiar within Orion. Darkseid's fleet starts to retreat to their worlds, but he orders Orion to destroy the ships, and Orion obeys his new master.

On the merged planet of New Genesis and Apokolips, the Female Furies lead a mining operation digging a tunnel to New Genesis' side, breaching the barrier that separates both worlds.
