Jean Loring is the wife and later ex-wife of Ray Palmer, the Atom. She is an attorney living in Ivy Town. Her extra-marital affair with Paul Hoben led to their divorce. This grief would eventually drive her insane, and she was committed to Arkham Asylum during Identity Crisis. During the Day of Vengeance storyline, she became possessed with the evil entity Eclipso. Jean Loring was created by Gardner Fox and Gil Kane, first appearing in Showcase #34. (1961)
