Professional History

Jim Shooter started submitting scripts to DC when he was 13. The following year, he was writing and penciling rough layouts for the Legion of Super-Heroes. Four years later, he retired from comics at 18. Thanks to some gentle prodding from Legion fans Mike Flynn and Harry Broertjes, creators of the fanzine Legion Outpost, Shooter came back to write more Legion stories.

Today, Shooter is most widely known as the former editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics. He also revitalized the failing Valiant Comics in the 1990s and created his own publication, Defiant Comics, soon after. In 2008, Shooter returned to DC Comics and began scripting issues of Legion of Super-Heroes (Volume 5).
