- Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-One era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985–86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis New Earth continuity, and should be considered apocryphal.
- John Grayson first appeared in Detective Comics #38 (1940) and was created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, but first appeared in Earth-One continuity in Batman #129 (1960) by Bill Finger and Sheldon Moldoff. The history of the Earth-One John Grayson was largely unchanged in the Post-Crisis New Earth continuity.
