Synopsis for "Return to Fort Charlotte"

An "Unwelcoming Committee" asks Jonah Hex and a prostitute to leave the small town of Painted Butte. After a daring rescue of the lady, Jonah is ambushed by the Fort Charlotte Brigade. Men that know him from the war. They capture "Lieutenant" Hex, and take him back to Fort Charlotte, the site of his infamous botched escape attempt. The Brigade hope that Hex will try to escape, essentially re-enacting the massacre, however, his lady companion has a different idea.

Notes

• This issue notes the infamous Fort Charlotte massacre as happening in January, 1863. (see Jonah Hex #25)
• This issue's letter page "via Pony Express" contains a letter from Charles D. Brown of NY, among others.
