Synopsis for "Zombie King"

Solomon Grundy walks into a cemetery where he retrieves a glowing stone from the ground that allows him to command the corpses there to rise from their graves. Before he can lead this zombie army on an assault against the living, Swamp Thing arises from the soil to stop him. Grundy beats him back and takes the horde to New Orleans. He calls in backup from Batman, who asks John Constantine and Zatanna for help but they are busy with Brother Night's schemes: tonight is a full blood moon that amplifies dark magic. They inform him that the relic he has is the Star of the Dead and can raise many from the underworld.

He flies the Batplane to the scene of an attack that is turning civilians and military into mindless beasts. Swamp Thing can only contain some of the monsters as Grundy causes more to rise until Batman arrives on the scene. When the two heroes converge on Grundy, they try destroying the gem but cannot.

Zatanna teleports onto the scene just as the evil powers of the Star wash over everyone in the area, turning them into living zombies. Only Swamp Thing is immune and he grows a tendril that pulls the Star out of the moonlight, causing the effects to reverse. They easily apprehend Grundy and enjoy a brief jazz parade.
