Superman has been killed by Doomsday.

The Justice League America takes Blue Beetle to the hospital.

Superheroes from around the world come to the JLA and say that something needs to be done for Superman now that he is dead. They all don armbands with his S insignia. Ice creates an ice sculpture of the Man of Steel.

The Death and Return of Superman

The events from this issue or series are related to The Death and Return of Superman, a retroactively named trilogy in which Superman is killed by the monster Doomsday.
