Guy Gardner, Booster Gold, and the Martian Manhunter, flying outside the ship, are powerless to save their teammates, but a squad of Rocket Reds, summoned by Oberon, arrives in time to prevent the crash, and the Manhunter Rocket Red is destroyed when he rises from the rubble with a drawn weapon, only to be stymied by Booster Gold's force-field. At the same time, in New York, Maxwell Lord is attacked by a Manhunter posing as his secretary, who is in turn attacked and destroyed by Lord's computer.
