Synopsis for "Illusions and Disillusions"

Agent Dale Gunn returns home to his husband Casey, who notices that Dale has left his wedding ring at home for the third time this week. Sheepishly, Dale admits that he has been leaving it behind in order to hide his marriage from anyone who might try to exploit it, given his high position within A.R.G.U.S.

Meanwhile, Vibe has just been surprised by a man in an energy suit, who claimed that he would need to start asking the right questions, or die like the rest. Confused, Vibe attacks his visitor, worrying that his brother Dante's life might be at risk. However, the man grabs him and explains that he is there to help. He introduces himself as A.R.G.U.S.' so-called Project Zero, otherwise known as Breacher - the name given to those who enter into this dimension from others. He explains that he was the first to breach the dimensional membrane in order to warn of Darkseid's invasion, but no one had listened. He claims that A.R.G.U.S. is not what it seems, warning that they will lie and manipulate Vibe into doing their work. Before he can go on, he is suddenly pulled back through the dimensional membrane against his will, leaving the brothers Ramon bewildered.

Meanwhile, at the Downtown Detroit Street Fair, Gypsy has escaped A.R.G.U.S.' Circus, and is forced to hide in plain sight when two police officers wander by. Once she is safe, she buys some plain clothes, and replaces a homeless man's bag of popcorn, which she had earlier tipped over.

At the Skillman Public Library, Cisco and Dante search for any information they can find on breaches in connection with A.R.G.U.S., but they turn up very little. However, Cisco does see hints that A.R.G.U.S. may have been formed through the merger of several other black ops groups, including the Men in Black. As Cisco's phone receives a call from A.R.G.U.S., Dante warns that he should be prepared for the possibility that the organization that hired him might be out to hurt people rather than help them.

Later, Vibe and Gunn prepare for his third mission as an inter-dimensional border cop, with Cisco noting for the first time that Gunn is married. Brushing it off, Gunn explains that this mission is to seek out Gypsy, who has the ability to cast illusions, which makes her impossible to track by normal means. Fortunately, Vibe can see her. Gunn adds that she was the one for whom the declaration of war they intercepted on Cisco's first mission was intended.

Stepping out into the rain, where the entire crowd at the street fair has been held by A.R.G.U.S. soldiers, Vibe begins scanning the faces for the woman he seeks. Finally, he spots her in the middle of the crowd, but only Vibe can keep track of her. Unfortunately for Gunn, when it becomes clear to the annoyed citizens that he intends to capture or kill a woman that they saw helping the homeless, they rebel.

While Vibe gives chase, he is suddenly intercepted by Batman, who explains that this is now Justice League business, and that Superman is busy questioning the girl. Vibe, however, can see that this is not the real Batman. He determines that Gypsy is affecting his perception by making him see what she wants him to see, rather than what is actually there.

As he chases her further into a derelict building, the people in the street fair begin to riot, but still, a retinue of agents stays with Cisco, to ensure that he captures Gypsy. He manages to corner her, and promises that he has no intention of hurting her. However, Director Waller calls in to her agents that Gypsy is to be captured immediately. When Cisco tries to make them pause so he can talk to Gypsy, Waller orders them to fire at will. Rather than wait for them to will anything, Cisco brings down the ceiling on their heads.

He turns to Gypsy and demands to know why she is trying to start a war with Earth. She responds that she's not. Her name is Cynnthia, and she belongs to a wandering tribe, but she was left behind when her tribe wandered into this dimension. A.R.G.U.S. found and captured her, and all she wants is to get back to her family. Meanwhile, Gunn listens to the conversation, worrying that Cisco won't fulfill his duty, and Waller's rage will fall on him.

Gypsy is seeking the path to her home, but it moves. She offers to help Cisco if he will help her in return. After witnessing Cisco's actions, Waller announces to her men that Vibe has gone AWOL, and must now be apprehended as well. Gunn tries to get her to let him talk to Cisco, and reason with him, but Waller reminds him that keeping Gypsy as a hostage has been the only thing that has been preventing a full scale interdimensional invasion. She and Vibe will have to be brought back alive.

In order to see that this job is done right, she calls on her own team, the Suicide Squad.
