Synopsis for "Welcome to Sundown Town, Chapter 6: Metathesiophobia"
Dr. Light follows Starbreaker through Shadow Thief's Shadowrealm. Zatanna is unable to transport the team through to follow her. While Z studies up some new spells, John and the team go to Dakota City to find Hardware and ask him details about the Shadowrealm. Hardware reveals that he is able to track Dr. Light, and does so. He finds that she is in the Himalayans, in the Shadowspire, headquarters of the Shadow Cabinet. With Gehenna's help, the team teleports there and finds the Shadow Cabinet all out cold. They then find Dr. Light, alongside Icon, battling Starbreaker. Icon notifies the team that Starbreaker has just killed the man who was holding the universe together.
Notes
- Black Canary and Superman appear on the cover but are not in this issue.
- This issue contains a preview of the upcoming Detective Comics #854, featuring Batwoman and a new creative team.
Trivia
- The criminal Hardware plans on taking down is Leonard Smalls, better known as Holocaust.
- Hardware references an encounter with Blue Beetle in which his suit was broken, although that story has not been told (at least not by the time of this publication).
- Hardware jokes that Vixen is the future Mrs. Hardware, his usual love interest is Barraki Young.
- The character "Paladin" is an alternate timeline version of Bruce Wayne from a story told in Justice League of America (Volume 2) #26. Zatanna greets him tearfully because Bruce apparently died in his identity as Batman in Final Crisis #6. Zatanna and Bruce have had episodes of romantic attraction, explored in the recent Detective Comics #843-844.
- One of the members among the fallen Shadow Cabinet appears to be Sideshow. In the canonical Dakotaverse, he was killed in Shadow Cabinet #17.
