Appearing in "Supertown, Part Five"
Synopsis for "Supertown, Part Five"
Half an hour ago, Obsidian broke into the makeshift cell where the Justice Society was holding Scythe, demanding vengeance for his crippled father. Lightning tried to talk him out of it, but he pushed her out of the way. When Flash arrived to talk him out of it, Lightning was attacked by Doctor Chaos and Flash left with her, he told Obsidian not to go in. But Obsidian didn't listen. And just before he struck, Scythe demonstrated that he could easily have escaped at any time. Knocking out Obsidian, he leaves...
Now, the survivors of the Justice Society are face-to-face with the free Scythe. Thinking fast, Flash goes with the only strategy he thinks will help the already crippled city - he gets Scythe out of the city faster than anyone else can think. This leaves Wildcat and Doctor Mid-Nite to face Dcotor Chaos. They are confident, but with his preternatural foreknowledge, he manages to make swift work of the two.
As the fight against Doctor Chaos goes on, Dennis Hogan and his superior watch. Hogan thinks that hiring Doctor Chaos is a step too far, but the superior thinks it was the only option they had. Hogan thinks they should have just asked the Justice Society to leave. At this point the superior is revealed - Senator Eagin, who has been paid by the government to keep a big, dark secret about Monument Point for a very long time, and has no desire to share this secret with anyone.
On the outskirts of the city, Scythe manages to hold Flash longe enough to get in a solid punch. With the hero on his knees, Scythe does something he hasn't before - he tells Flash specifically to surrender. He says his greivances are with a mysterious "them" in the city, and he wants their attention. Flash responds in the negative.
Back in the city, Doctor Chaos has Wildcat and Doctor Mid-Nite on the ropes. He points out that he has managed to kill the mayor and decimate what is left of their roster, and that they are hopeless against him. He pulls out his device and activates a set of micro-bombs around the city, killing dozens of random people. Then he gloats.
Just before a large group of heroes arrive to protect the idea of societal justice.
- Doctor Chaos takes credit for freeing Scythe. That may mean Mister Terrific loosened Scythe's bonds; or, that Doctor Chaos is a big stinky liar-pants.
