Synopsis for "Chapter Four"

Luthor, Riddler, Ivy, and Manta deliver their mission statement to audiences worldwide, condemning the JLA for doing to little to improve the world's status quo. Together, they pledge to surpass the JLA, and unveil their masterpiece: a series of floating high-tech cities in which the world's disadvantaged can live "without disease, without poverty, without age".

Unbeknownst to the public, the rest of Luthor's legion is attacking the JLA in their daytime identities. Clark Kent is ambushed by Bizarro; Hal Jordan is teleported off-Earth (via Boom Tube) by Sinestro; Dinah Lance and Oliver Queen are waylaid by Scarecrow and Clayface; Shiera and Carter Hall are attacked by Toyman's robots; Wonder Woman is savaged by the Cheetah; Ray Palmer is sniped by Giganta; and Barry Allen is given drugged soup by Captain Cold, which causes him to lose control of his super-speed.

After tearing away Superman's Clark Kent disguise, Bizarro is quickly joined by Solomon Grundy and Parasite, who render the Man of Steel all but helpless. Metallo then steps in, ready to kill Superman with his kryptonite heart.
