Quote1 You see … I am very interested in occult studies! In my experiments with demonology, I may have released this psychical fiend from the spirit world! If I have, I deeply regret it! But of course, there's always the chance my theory isn't the correct one! Quote2
Kati Lugi src

In the early 1940s, Kati Lugi worked as a stage magician, as a cover for staging mass robberies, of his audiences.

An extremely capable mass-hypnotist, Lugi would seemingly conjure forth a massive, yellow, manlike figure, calling itself "The Glowing One", to distract and terrify the show's patrons. Meanwhile, some audience members would be hypnotically compelled to rob other audience members, then turn over the loot to Kati Lugi, and afterward forget all about it. He also used post-hypnotic compulsion to stage local crime waves, using the same patsies.

In Cliffland, Kati Lugi encountered Jim Corrigan and Percival Popp at one such performance, and this brought him into conflict with the Spectre, leading to his arrest and imprisonment.
