Jor-Elsrc

The Kryptonian Rocket is the usual term used to describe the spacecraft that carried the infant Kal-L/Kal-El from his homeworld of Krypton to Earth in any number of realities.

History

Earth-Two/Earth-One

Jor-L, knowing his planet is doomed builds a rocket ship to send his only son Kal-L to the planet Earth before Krypton exploded. The craft landed in Smallville, where it was discovered by John Kent and Mary Kent.

New Earth

 Main article: Kryptonian Birthing Matrix

Kryptonian children are raised in a Birthing Matrix separate from their parents until a certain age is reached. The scientist Jor-El, believing Krypton was doomed, redesigned the chamber for interstellar travel capabilities, and equipped it with a hyper-drive. It was used to send the Last Son of Krypton, young Kal-El to the planet Earth before Krypton exploded. The craft landed in Smallville, where it was discovered by Jonathan Kent and Martha Kent.

Earth-1

The ship Kal-El was placed into as a child possessed an artificial intelligence equipped with Krypton's information and history. It was acquired by the United States government shortly after it landed on Earth, while Jonathan and Martha Kent adopted Kal-El and raised him as their own. Years later, the ship reacts to an adult Kal-El's presence and escapes from military custody. Kal-El, having assumed the identity of Superman, uses the ship to destroy Tyrell's flagship. Afterwards, the ship hides in the Arctic Circle and proceeds to teach Superman about Krypton's history.[1]

Prime Earth

The ship Kal-El was placed into as a child was described as having " Brainiac AI" as well as a Kryptonite Rocket Core. Superman then uses his rocket from Krypton that had also been miniaturized with Metropolis to attack Brainiac's mind, which the rocket was able to do since it's primary mission was to protect Kal-El.[2]

Man of Steel

The ship Kal-El was placed into as a child possessed an advanced piece of technology called "phantom drive", which allowed the spacecraft to travel at faster-than-light speeds. When Kal-El, having assumed the identity of Superman, battles General Zod's forces, he tells the U.S. Army to throw his ship into General Zod's spacecraft, which creates a singularity that throws both ships into the Phantom Zone.[3]
