Synopsis for "The Qigly Affair (Part II of IV): Tanks for the Memories"

Arriving at Planet Vurkan, Lobo and Jonas enter the corrupt and violent Dagma City, run by the Pan-Galactic Mob and corrupt the Vurkan Police Department. Upon landing, they are stung with a 1,000 cred "landing fee" which Jonas begrudgingly pays. Lobo whispers a secret to the officer in exchange for a tip on how to locate Qigley. The officer points them in the direction of the stool pigeon charity show.

At the Dead Boys hideout, Morte Fatale hires a delivery service to return the mobster corpses to the Council of Dons, tipping the driver 100 credits not to squeal. The nervous Qigly questions Fatale's actions and is knocked unconscious for his trouble. As Jug and Koody rig the building with explosives, Fatale checks Bloodshed and Bloodstain's progress digging into the sewers.

Lobo and Jonas attend the Stool Pidgeon Charity Bungee Jump on a bridge over the warehouse district. Not interested in talking on their day off, Lobo has to motivate them in his own way. With two informants turned to pulp, 'Bo weeds out Doolie the Stoolie who tries to invoke "omerta." Lobo drags him out of sight before returning shortly after with the information and Dooley's 'scalp,' despite him being bald.

Quietus and Murder are stalled at Dagma City Spaceport customs. Declaring their weapons and bounty hunter status, the two are still hauled away to be tortured. Seems somebody warned an officer that two men fitting their description would arrive to assassinate the Council of Dons. They are released from Police HQ, but leave a parting gift for the inconvenience.

A delivery arrives at the Pan-Galactic Mob Headquarters where a meeting of the Council of Dons is taking place. Inside one of the crates is the corpse of Vinnie Hood, with an extortion note asking for 100 million credits or Qigly will be handed over to Vril Dox of L.E.G.I.O.N. Don Alduc asks the delivery guy where he picked up the crates, to which the courier opens his envelope, explaining there is a tip inside to keep him quiet, but upon inspection is really an explosive.

The information that 'Bo had been given isn't as helpful as expected, seeing as every building in the warehouse district is owned by Boulting Bros. The rumble of the Mob's heavy tanks driving by however lead the way to right warehouse. Commandeering the last tank, Lobo and Jonas blast their way through the others. The Mob reach the hideout first, not finding the Dead Boys - who have tunnelled into the sewers - but the explosive trap they left behind instead. With the safe house destroyed, the Mob then focus their attention (and fire power) on the hijacked tank.

Notes

  • The sign above the Police HQ reads, "Magda City." It's unknown if this is a mistake or a separate suburb of Dagma City.

Trivia

  • The police officers bear a "VPD" emblem, (Vurkan Police Department,) implying that it is a global police force.
