Synopsis for "When It Rains, God is Crying"
Lois Lane is out on a date with a man named Geoff. She hears a police bulletin of an incident taking place at the waterfront. Borrowing Geoff's car, she races down there and meets with Inspector Bill Henderson. Henderson's crew is dredging a body up from the harbor, and Lois is horrified to discover that it is the calcified remains of a young girl. She races back to the Daily Planet to begin typing up her story.
A rival reporter named Bob Hawley sees Lois leaving the scene and secretly telephones his Daily Planet editor, Ed Byrnes. Byrnes in turn informs the new City Editor James McCullough who pressures Lois to kill the story. Lois is furious and demands an explanation. McCullough tells her that the Planet staff is still angry with her over a recently botched assignment, but secretly, he harbors resentment over the fact that Lois has always enjoyed carte blanche privilege under Perry White. After a heated debate, Lois convinces McCullough to go ahead with the story.
Meanwhile, Lois' little sister, Lucy Lane, arrives in Metropolis. The two sisters had a falling out some years ago, and have not spoken with one another in quite some time. Lucy tries to talk with Lois, but Lois brusquely brushes her off, concentrating instead on her story. Lucy then visits Clark Kent and Lana Lang and tells them of her recent spat with Lois.
The following day, Lois travels to the Childsearch offices in New Paltz, New York and interviews the administrator, Kate Brinkley. Kate gives her some basic statistics concerning missing children cases. Lois even witnesses Kate counseling a grieving family, who had only recently lost their toddler daughter to a kidnapper.
