Madame Zodiac was a fortune teller with mystical powers. She first started her criminal career by helping Poison Ivy and Catwoman escape from the Huntress and Batgirl and then, she convinced the evil-doers to rob a museum. During this crime, Ivy and Catwoman were finally stopped by the lady heroes and Madame Zodiac was captured by Batwoman. However, it was all part of her scheme to steal a valuable item from the museum, after which she vanished, to everyone's surprise.[1]

Madame Zodiac then reappeared in Washington, D.C. and with help of a numerous gang, she broke into the Pentagon and used the building's geometrical structure to augment her own mystic powers. She was stopped by Batgirl, who destroyed some of the building's walls, eliminating the structure and taking away Zodiac's powers. The villain was then arrested by the Military Police.[2]

Split Personalities

Some time later, Madame Zodiac began to experiment with occult magic and a dark presence contacted her. Using special magic, the dark being separated Madame Zodiac’s personality in two, one evil and one good. Her evil side allied with the dark entity and the good personality was locked away.[3]

Like this, Madame Zodiac’s evil side started working for the dark entity and following its command, she released Doctor Zodiac from prison.[4] The two of them became romantically involved and they started plotting against Batman and Superman.[5] Summoning Demons, Madame Zodiac captured Batman and took him to her secret lair, where she prepared the body for the dark entity’s possession.[6] When Superman found their lair, he and Dr. Zodiac released the good personality of Madame Zodiac and forced them to become one being again. Although Madame Zodiac was whole again, she was still determined to see the dark entity unleashed in the world, but the dark being attacked her and left her unconscious.[3] For many years, the fate of Madame Zodiac remained unknown.

Powers

  • Although this character was originally introduced during DC's Earth-One era of publication, their existence following the events of the 1985-86 limited series Crisis on Infinite Earths remains intact. However, some elements of the character's Pre-Crisis history may have been altered or removed for Post-Crisis New Earth continuity, and should be considered apocryphal.
