Synopsis for "Loose End"

Sylvia is working in the Traffic Department ten days before her probation ends. Lt. Best visits and expresses his displeasure with her replacement. He meets Homicide Detective Koechner whom Sylvia previously aided by tracking down an expired registration. Best reveals he has an Australian postcard from Mark Shaw to deliver but after witnessing Koechner's demeaning nature, Best promoises to intervene to shorten Sylvia's probation. Sylvia angrily confronts him telling him she's going to tough it out like he asked and suggests his response is due to guilt and a concern for his reputation. Impressed, Best leaves and Sylvia, after digging up Mark Shaw's file, pitches the postcard.
