Synopsis for "Costume Drama"

Kate looks back on the night when she put together her Manhunter suit in order to take on Copperhead. She can't help but wonder where these confiscated weapons at the LA Federal Building came from. The suit that she uses came from a galaxy far away. It belonged to a core member of the Darkstars. The Darkstar corpsman was killed in battle and fell to Earth. A homeless veteran named Jake found the Darkstar's body and took his suit for warmth.

Little did he realize that the suit enhances one's reflexes. After putting it on, a couple of punks start to antagonize Jake. Jake's training and the suit made quick work of the punks but Jake failed to realize it was the suit that gave him the edge to pummel his attackers. Jake steals his attackers' clothes and puts them onto look like a new man that isn't homeless but he discarded the Darkstar suit in a dumpster. A police officer was walking by and found the suit in the dumpster as well as Jake's attackers who were cringing with fear.

Kate's gauntlets had come from Gotham after the cataclysm had hit the city. A criminal engineer named Phil found Azrael's bat suit and designed the gauntlets to go with it. Phil's cohort Stoops has a money making idea to rob the Highfalutin Law Firm. Stoops' nephew works as a janitor at the law firm and he has it under good authority that a lawyer who represents all sorts of criminals has been privy to where these criminals have hidden their vast sums of money if they should ever get pinched by the Feds. Stoops figures that since Phil is an expert safe cracker, he can get into the lawyer's safe where he has kept all the information about the illicit funds that his clients have tucked away.

Phil asks Stoops if his nephew Burgos had disarmed the motion sensors in the lawyers office. Stoops says "Yes" and they put on their disguises. Both men dress up as window washers from Apex and descend to the lawyer's office with the scaffold. Phil uses his gauntlets to cut a hole into the glass window. Both men enter the room and Phil notices that the lawyer's safe has been pilfered. All of a sudden, the motion sensors go off. Phil and Stoops panic because they realize that Burgos screwed them. Two heavily armed security guards bust into the room and fire at the burglars. Phil and Stoops jump onto the scaffold but Phil accidentally cuts one of the suspension ropes with his gauntlets. Phil and Stoops hang from a catwalk for a brief moment but Phil loses his grip. Phil and Stoops fall to their deaths but their bodies fall right on top of Burgos' car as he was making his escape with the lawyer's files.

Kate finally comes across Mark Shaw's original bo staff. Shaw was involved with a ragtag group called the Shadow Fighters. They went to the South American country of Parador to stop Alex Montez who was possessed by Eclipso. Montez had killed his cousin Yolanda (Wildcat), Commander Steel, Major Victory, Peacemaker and Beth Chapel (Dr. Mid-Nite). Shaw was presumed dead at the scene by Amanda Waller but Director Sarge Steel knew better. Steel had Dr. Michael Neely inject Shaw's body with another shot of nanites to reanimate his body. Dr. Neely didn't approve of Director Steel's decision to reanimate Shaw so Steel called his "housekeeping department" to have Dr. Neely removed and had Shaw put on ice until he was needed once again.
