Synopsis for "Some Years Later, Part 1: Family Business"

Kate chases Nellie Lovett, Sweeney Todd's partner in crime, through Griffith Park. Kate loses sight of Nellie then Ms. Lovett surprises her from behind. Nellie pins Kate to the ground and is about to slice off her tongue with Sweeney Todd's straight razor when a masked man comes to Kate's rescue. He knocks Nellie off of Kate and Nellie loses her grip on Sweeney's straight razor but Ms. Lovett kicks the masked hero into a tree causing the the tree to break into two. Kate suspects that her masked savior must be a metahuman or he wouldn't have survived that impact. Kate's masked savior tells Kate to go after Ms. Lovett but Kate recognizes his voice. Kate removes the mask of her savior and it turns out to be Ramsey, her son.

Kate rags on Ramsey when they get home. Both her and Peter paid for Ramsey's education at USC so he could major in film. Ramsey tries to calm his mother by saying his metahuman ability to be invulnerable is what keeps him safe then Kate's attorney boyfriend Matt comes in with coffee in his hand. Kate's new boyfriend is about 15 years younger than her. Kate asks if Ramsey he is starting his own little metahuman posse with his friends but before Ramsey could answer his boyfriend Justin knocks on the door. Ramsey tells Kate that he is going to the movies with Justin and sleeping at his house. Kate voices her frustration but Ramsey closes the door on her.

Matt tries to calm Kate down but she decides to blow off some steam by delivering Sweeney's razor to Director Bones even though she doesn't work for him anymore. As for the boys, Ramsey and Justin go to the Pemeberton Studios Backlot to train with Obsidian and his adopted daughter Jennifer who has taken on her aunt's mantle as Jade. Justin shows off his ability to grow to enormous heights. Kate drops off the razor with Bone. Both Bones and Kate suspect that Nellie Lovett is trying to resurrect Sweeney Todd. Bones gives Kate some advice about training Ramsey rather keeping him from pursuing the "hero business" that way he is better prepared and he won't keep things from Kate. Kate tells Bones to be at her son's graduation. Bones promises but his attention is drawn to Sweeney's razor. Bones picks up the razor and it begins to glow. Ms. Lovett appears from the shadows and recites an incantation that causes Sweeney's spirit to possess Bones. With Bones as his host, Sweeney possesses metahuman as well as supernatural abilities.

In Malibu, Shaw heads to Dylan's new base of operations. Shaw knocks on Dylan's door and Dylan answers the door. Shaw is taken back by Dylan's appearance because when Dylan went back to Gotham to settle his debts with the Joker so many years ago, it costed him his right eye and his right leg. Dylan replaced his right leg with a cybernetic one but he covered up his right with an eye patch. Dylan has a new arrangement with the US government that enables them to keep deadly weapons off the open market. Shaw asks if Dylan and Cameron are talking or seeing each other again. Dylan reluctantly admits that their relationship is off and on.

Notes
