Personal History

Mark is married to journalist and TV newscaster Irma Page. They married in Spain, where they are currently living. Buckingham's best man was Neil Gaiman.

Professional History

Mark Buckingham is a British comic book artist. He began his career in 1986 as a writer working for Slave Labor Graphics on the title Samurai Penguin. His first work for DC Comics was in 1988 in the title Hellblazer as an inker. He worked over many titles such as Detective Comics; Shadow of the Bat; Batman and many others.


  • Buckingham has earned a total of four Eisner Awards:
  • 2003: For "Best New Series", for Fables #19–27: "March of the Wooden Soldiers" (with Bill Willingham and Steve Leialoha)
  • 2005: For "Best Serialized Story", for Fables #19–27: "March of the Wooden Soldiers" (with Willingham and Leialoha)
  • 2006: For "Best Serialized Story", for Fables #36–38, 40–41: "Return to the Homelands" (with Willingham and Leialoha)
  • 2007: For "Best Artist/Penciller/Inker or Penciller/Inker Team", for Fables (with Leialoha)
