History

A cantankerous scientist from Ivy University, Professor Martin Campbell is considered by some to be a "mathematical poet"; one who takes dubious theories as a personal affront to his intelligence. Campbell was a member of the fraternal Lighter Than Air Society and was a colleague of Ray Palmer as well as his academic successor, Professor Ryan Choi. Despite his association with both men who have assumed the guise of the Atom, Professor Campbell had great difficulty in believing that a man could actually shrink his own atoms. [1]

Campbell did have a weakness for attractive, younger women however. Upon meeting the super-hero Donna Troy he commented, "I love a woman who dresses in star clusters..." [2]
