Quote1 Name's Max Faraday -- and welcome to my world. Hours ago, I was a struggling comp-sci major who spent way too much time on the internet -- until I downloaded something I shouldn't have. Something that's turned my world on end. Quote2
Max Faraday src

Max Faraday became a hero by pure chance, gifted with divine powers after downloading the Creation Equation.

As a young boy, Max grew up when his parents were divorced and lived with his mother alongside with his older sister Jenny. Sometime later his mother remarried with a man named Edgar, but both later died in an accident, leaving Jennifer to raise Max for the remainder of his life. Max lived with Jenny and his college friend Devan Lawless and had been working as a pizza delivery boy for his tuition money.

On one night Max's life changed. While Devan logged into Icore using his old professor's access codes, he and Max discovered a file transferred to their computer by Christine Blaze, which contained the Creation Equation. Curious and without a second thought, Max and Devan downloaded it. Max viewed the entire code of the Equation (barring one file, which he forwarded to his cyber-girlfriend, Susanna Chaste), when the computer blew up as a result of channeling the Equation into him. After seeing no harm on himself, Max and Devan went on a pizza run and encountered agents of The Rath, who came for the Equation.

World's End

Since the discovery of The Bleed, Max had grown disillusioned with Earth's superhumans in which he witnessed many destructive events caused by superhumans such as Kaizen Gamorra's global terrorist attack, Florida's devastation, and the Authority's brief takeover of the United States.[1] Max's antipathy towards superhumans was exacerbated by Armageddon that was caused by The High's Reaper clones. Faraday saved some billions of people with his powers across the planet, but did little as the pressure of sensing the Reapers' nuclear self-detonation over Earth overwhelmed him, that resembles to the Rapture. Max relocated the survivors he saved to several locations such as St. Louis, where they remained unaware of Armageddon and shielded from detection.[1] Despite having the powers to fix the world, Max realized that even if he does so he knew there would still be another world-ending menace caused by superhumans soon to follow. He then concluded that the world could only be saved with a world without superhumans: he would keep the billions of survivors he saved in his havens and wait for the surviving super-powered stragglers to wipe each other out before starting the world over.[1] Max took himself, his wife Susanna, Jenny and Devan Lawless to live on a tropical South Pacific island, secluding themselves from post-Armageddon Earth.

Despite the isolation, Max became aware that the former Wildcats member turned-villain, Tao, was seeking him to gain the Creation Equation in order to become a nihilistic god to destroying and remaking reality in his own image. Max was soon found by the Wildcats and Team-7, who seek his help to stop Tao. Initially Max adamantly refused helping them and explained his reasons against superhumans, but is convinced otherwise as he knew he would eventually deal with Tao. Unfortunately for Max, Tao made his first move against Max by attacking his island haven and endangering his family.[1] During an intensive battle, Max was eventually forced to reveal the Equation to Tao after Susanna was taken hostage by Tao's underling, Pit Bull.[2] Max and the Void-powered Spartan were subsequently defeated and their powers siphoned by Tao. Ultimately the mad villain was instead defeated by Susanna and Void, who turned his own flaws against him.[3]

After Tao retreated due to Grifter's actions, Max regained his powers but fared little in repairing Earth. Max then asked Void to accompany him to The Hollow Realm with the survivors as he needed her help to keep them safe there. Furthermore, Max regained his faith on superheroes after what everyone had done to stop Tao, and he tasked the Wildcats and Team-7 to restore their world. Before leaving for the Hollow Realm with his wife, Max bestowed the heroes with new, augmented costumes based on their original attires.[3]

Powers

Max wields the power of the Creation Equation which gives him power of all forms of matter as well as control over space, time, and everything in it. His only hindrance is his own human mind.

Faraday's Law

Max Faraday has an undetermined number of 'laws' that he follows in his life. He quotes them throughout the Divine Right series. Here is a collection of the ones he has shared so far:

  • 9 - "If wishes were fishes, no one would ever go hungry." (Divine Right #8)

  • 152 - "He who saws logs at night, always wakes up with wood." (Divine Right)
