HistoryEdit

Medusa is legendary monster from Greek Myths, who was decapitated by Perseus as part of his own quest. She was one of the three sisters known as the Gorgons. The other two sisters were Stheno and Euryale. Medusa was the only mortal out of the three. She was once very beautiful and lived far in the north were the sun didn't visit. Being very curious, she wanted to see the sun, and asked the Athena for permission to visit the south but she refused. Medusa was angered by this and dared to say she was jealous of her beauty and thats why she didnt want her to leave. Athena then punished her by turning her hair into snakes and cursing her by making her so ugly that who ever lookes at her eyes would turn into stone.

Through the actions of a jealous Hera, Medusa's two gorgon sisters were set free from their prison on the then hovering Themyscira. The two then set out to be reunited with their long dead sister. Forcing Circe to recreate her she was at first was unwilling help the Gorgons and and resurrected only Medusa's head, citing that it had been the part the two sisters had handed her and demanded it be remade. Poseidon then promises Circe she would be reunited with her daughter, who was being raised by the Amazons, if she resurrected Medusa. Medusa harbored the desire to take vengeance on Wonder Woman

She first attacks the White House and battles Wonder Woman, who along with Artemis and Philippus were there to discuss the presence of a large US naval vessel within the waters.[1] She later returns and and attacks Themysciran Embassy, turning one employee sons to stone. Wonder Woman now angered by the attack nearly kills the gorgon, but when Medusa calls out to Ares, challenging her in his name, she has to accept.[2]

The battle takes place at the nearby baseball stadium, and Ares transmits a video feed of the fight to the world. Wonder Woman has to fight blind, using a cloth but she then uses snake venom which she pours into her own eyes. Wonder Woman is victorious in the end as once again, Medusa is decapitated. Ending her plans of turning Wonder Woman and every viewer to stone.[3]

Later Medusa's head is involved in Athena's takeover of Mount Olympus, being used to turn Zeus' champion to stone.

The head later comes into the possession of the Morrigan, a trinity of death-goddess'. Her eyes still posse her legendary gaze and two guards fall victim to it turning them to stone. It is revealed shortly afterwards that Medusa possibly is alive and aware of her situation as the Morrigan mock her, before revealing that Medusa's own tears are capable of reversing the stone gaze.
