The Mega Rod is a weapon used by Big Barda.
History
Barda has used it as a hand to hand weapon, to fire energy blasts and as a means of transportation. The Mega-Rod is capable of projecting a wide-arcing blast of concussive force powerful enough to tear through the hull of a heavily armored ship.
The functional components of the Mega-Rod utilize the same technology used in the construction of Apokoliptian Boom Tubes. As such, it is possible to reverse-engineer a Mega-Rod's internal mechanisms and use them to create a transwarp drive. Big Barda demonstrated this tool's ability when her spaceship required additional power in order to catch up to the Cluster Ship owned by Lord Manga Khan.
Since the Mega Rod constantly broadcasts "Darkseid's propaganda" into the user's mind, the device can only be used by high-willed people like Barda. Once, a normal punk was able to steal the Rod, and it gradually turned him into a disfigured servant of Darkseid.[1]
Another version of the Mega-Rod is used by the teen superheroine Little Barda.
