HistoryEdit

Melvin Frohike is an electronics surveillance specialist and a conspiracy theorist. In 1989 at a consumer electronics show in Baltimore, where his company had a trade stand, he met John Byers and Richard Langley to form the "Lone Gunmen". The three began contributing material to an underground newspaper publication also called The Lone Gunman.

Although Frohike and his colleagues harbor great distrust of the United States government, they have often collaborated with maverick F.B.I. agent Fox Mulder in solving federal cases deemed too unconventional for traditional investigation methods.

On one particular case, Mulder came into possession of a flash drive belonging to the scientists of Rauch Industries, a major government defense contractor. They believed that the drive contained information relating to an experimental and highly dangerous bio-weapon. The Lone Gunmen determined that while the drive did not contain any relevant data, it was in fact tainted with bio-weapon itself. Mulder, being the only one to physically handle the device, suffered psychotropic hallucinations so severe that it nearly killed him. The Lone Gunmen assisted Mulder's partner, Dana Scully, and F.B.I. director Walter Skinner in making sure that Mulder received the necessary medical treatment.

Melvin Frohike is based upon an original character created by Chris Carter, writer and director of the popular television series The X-Files. The role of Frohike was played by actor Tom Braidwood.
