  • Just wanted to drop a line, and say that it's nice to see you doing good work around here.

  • Your recent Jay Garrick image comes from a bigger splash page and it really would look much better having the whole un-doctored image instead of a close up on his face. Especially since the character infobox image might not take a square size rather than the rectangle.

Basically, if you'd like I can delete this image and you can reupload it as the full image. If not we're fine for now, no one's going to bug you about it.

  • Hey BG, remember that although the page name is Superman (Clark Kent) that isn't how it's supposed to be sourced. It's still Kal-El (New Earth), if you're not sure check the appearance categories at the bottom of the page. I'll fix it up, no biggie. Just for the future.

    The more you know~

  • What would certainly be a time-saver is uploading the textless images for new issues (preferably before I've started updating the articles, otherwise we'll end up crossing the streams again) - but it is important to be sure that you've filled out the image template according to the weird standards we have for textless covers.

As I was going through the ones you uploaded today (just my OCD, nothing personal), I had to make a few changes, so here are a few guidelines:

Licence: This should be "Comic Cover", of course. Image Type: "Textless" Image Description: "{{f|Issue Title Vol # #}}" - this shows that it's a fair use image from that issue. Source: "Issue Title Vol # #" this one isn't required, but I like to have it filled in. Issue: "Issue Title Vol # #" this one is required. Universe: Unless it's a Vertigo or Johnny DC book, this will be "New Earth" Subject1 etc: whoever is in the image. CoverArtist: the cover artist. Everything else should be blank.

I know you're already filling out most of those fields properly, but for completion's sake, that's the whole thing.

Another thing - IF you are creating an issue page, and you are adding a textless image, just put it in the "Image" field, instead of "Image2". Whoever uploads the actual cover art will move it to the Image2 field. As I said in my previous message, it's better to have as much information as possible on your page, and an issue page with an image - even a textless one - is better than an issue page with no image at all.

Okay, I think I've exhausted myself of picky comments. Sorry to unload on you. Please don't be discouraged. I mean this stuff only to be helpful.

  • I don't mean to discourage you from editing at all, but when it comes to the new releases (on wednesdays), I'd prefer it if you held back. The skeleton pages (basically empty templates on issue pages) I've been tripping over are not great to have sitting around on the site. (How would you feel if you were looking for today's books, and then found an empty page?). So, if I hadn't been doing my usual Wednesday routine, that would have been an issue.

Every Wednesday, I create Template:ComicList, so that people know what's coming out. Then, I usually go through all of the issues to make sure they're up to date with as much info as possible. If I'm doing that, and then someone else is creating pages as I'm creating the same pages, or uploading an image as I'm uploading the same image, things can get confusing and messy.

I know that as a wiki, the editing is open to everyone, and I understand everyone's excitement to edit the new books, but until the books have actually been released, it is better that the administrators handle creating the new pages.

Again, I don't mean to discourage you from editing. You're a great editor. The weekly new releases are just a bit of a pet-project that need to be kept up to a certain picky standard.
