  • Hello!

    Thank you for uploading new content to the DC Database project!

    We have lots of images in our database, 88,924 in fact, and in order to keep them organized we use a system of naming, categories and licensing added to each.

    1. Please review our Naming Conventions for Images. Images are categorized by name, so a descriptive name rather than a string of numbers is important.
      1. As a guide, look what other images in a character's gallery are called, and continue with the same name and number. If you upload a first image of a character, use "[Name] [Universe] 001". Ignore the Universe designation if it is a New Earth character.
      2. Issue covers should be given at least the title of the series, the volume and the number. A name similar to the issue is preferred: "Title Vol 1 1". Textless covers should be called "Title Vol 1 1 Textless". Files that do not indicate the issue number will be deleted.
    2. Add the Image Template to the images you upload. This is mandatory. Fill it in as detailed here, or below.
    3. Selecting the proper license is vital to properly maintaining our images. Please choose the license which best describes the image you are uploading. The most commonly used are 'Comic Single Panel' and 'Comic Cover', respectively.
    4. Other fields that should be filled in: Issue, Subject1, Artist. Add Source if you've taken it from a different site. If you've taken it from a different site and don't know the issue, DO NOT UPLOAD IT.

    In addition, please take a moment to review our policies page and more specifically our image policy.

    Questions can be directed to any of our admins, or asked on our forums.

    Fill out the template. We won't keep reminding you.

    • You need to add and fill out the image template for all images you upload to the site whether its an issue or not. You also didn't pick a very good name for that image.

  • Always remember to hit preview before post or you end up breaking pages and causing a mess.

  • Mike, you need to remember that you need sources for article edits especially those that have to do with height, weight and eye color. These things are objective and should have a source.

    Failing to do so could put you in the hot seat again.

  • As you can see if you read you message wall, we're pretty tired of having to revert all your edits, which you still make after you've been told not to.

    You've been blocked twice already, for 2 weeks and 1 week. Should you choose to ignore the rules again, it'll be a 3 month block.

  • You don't need to change the death to last on character pages. The death is assumed to be the last appearance anyway and it removes them from the "deceased characters" category and puts them back in the "living characters" category.

  • The character infobox is a field of categories. It blue links when information is inputted correctly, don't add dates in arbitrarily.

    • It interesting that you needed to break links and categories on Alec Holland (New Earth), Wonder Woman (Diana Prince), and Superman (Clark Kent) after an admin told you not to add dates arbitrarily.

      For clarity's sake, the template takes the text at "Fist" and:

      • Links to the article on that issue;
      • Pulls the cover date from that article;
      • Adds the date with a link to the "Month Year" category; and
      • Adds the appropriate "Foo Age character" category.

      Manually adding the date breaks the template and results in gibberish at the bottom of the infobox.

      Note that the dates used are the cover dates. These are generally 2 or 3 months after the "on sale" date.

      As for Wikipedia... not the best source since anyone can edit it (Also their reason for not using this as a source so...).

    • What part of "Use the cover date" exactly are you having trouble understanding?
