When you create character pages, make sure to use the character template. Right now, you're using the race template. The character template can be found by clicking the box that looks like a person in the tool bar.
Read the comics if you have them, or do the research on the character, and then write up an original in universe biography. Use other articles like Shazam (Earth-S) as examples when making character pages.
We've been having some discussions about Golden Age publishers the last couple years; we don't know for sure what DC owns. As for Fox, we only know that they (probably) own the Blue Beetle and Phantom Lady stuff, but it's unclear what else, as those came from Charlton and Quality stock, not directly from Fox.
it looks like they where bought out when DC was known as Nation Periodical Publication /Quality Comics along with Charlton Comics around late 1950 when Fox filed Chapter 11 in July so that would mean they had Thor in that buy out
Blue Beetle was acquired by Charlton when Fox folded. Nothing hokey.
Phantom Lady is considerably more troublesome.
In 1947, Quality no longer published PL, so Iger Studios, which thought they owned the rights, assigned it to Fox.
When Fox went out of business because of the Comics Code Authority, its assets were divided.
Some of PL went to Star Publications, which also folded because of the CCA.
It then apparently passed to Ajax-Farrell, which published 4 issues 1954-5.
Some time later, Ajax-Farrell's stock was published by Charlton, and they reprinted some PL stories, apparently, in the 50s and 60s (don't know where).
IW Publications also published reprints, but their claim to the rights isn't explained.
DC acquired the stock of Quality Comics in 1956, but didn't publish them until 1970.
The problem in this is it is unclear whether Iger Studios had any legal right to assign their work to another publisher, and so whether the uses of the character after that are legit. Considering DC successfully contested the claim to Phantom Lady when Paragon/AC published new material on the character (they renamed their version Blue Bulleteer), they obviously think Iger Studios did not have any right to reassign PL to other studios.
Which begs the question, what should we do with Phantom Lady? We got rid of AC publications on the site, but if the Fox and A-F works are also copyright infringement, does that mean we should not cover them? Was there ever a DC v Iger court case?
This is part of the larger discussion. We already got rid of licensed products (linking them to other wikis instead) and Golden and Silver Age MLJ. We need to figure out how much of Charlton, Fawcett and Quality DC bought, and how much of Fox is owned/was ever owned by DC. So far, it looks like it's only, via Charlton, Blue Beetle.
ok fair enough:now as I under stand from my personal dealings with time warren and how buy outs go it's all or nothing deal like in 1968 or 69 when TW bought DC comics , allow with the catalog of charters at the time before they slip into Public Domain so EC ,Charlton Comics & Ect.. now as far Phantom Lady she is was bought out and used a lot when ever DC does Freedom Force Comic Arc ,along with Blue Beetle and now Yellow Jacket . So it begs the question weather DC had it as part their buy out and did nothing with the charter IE Foxes Thor which has happen before with DC because they no use for them ,because they were more wanting to used PL or BB because they sold more issue .
Thank you for uploading new content to the DC Database project!
We have lots of images in our database, 125,225 in fact, and in order to keep them organized we use a system of naming, categories and licensing added to each.
Please review our Naming Conventions for Images. Images are categorized by name, so a descriptive name rather than a string of numbers is important.
As a guide, look what other images in a character's gallery are called, and continue with the same name and number. If you upload a first image of a character, use "[Name] [Universe] 001". Do not use parentheses, or the full pagename. Ignore the Universe designation if it is a New Earth character.
Issue covers should be given at least the title of the series, the volume and the number. A name similar to the issue is preferred: "Title Vol 1 1". Textless covers should be called "Title Vol 1 1 Textless". Files that do not indicate the issue number will be deleted.
Images should be no less than 300px wide, unless no bigger image is available.
Add the Image Template to the images you upload. This is mandatory. Fill it in as detailed here, or below.
Selecting the proper license is vital to properly maintaining our images. Please choose the license which best describes the image you are uploading. The most commonly used are 'Comic Single Panel' and 'Comic Cover', respectively.
Other fields that should be filled in: Issue, Subject1, Artist. Add Source if you've taken it from a different site. If you've taken it from a different site and don't know the issue, DO NOT UPLOAD IT.
