  • Hey, if you're going to add the sale date of comics to their comic pages, could you use the "| Day = " field? You fill it out with the day of the month it was released, and it will automatically add it to a category for the week it was published.

(If for some reason the issue wasn't released two months in advance, like it usually is, you can use the Pubyear and Pubmonth fields to force it into the right category).

    For example, Batman Vol 2 22 is in Category:February 12, 2014 (Publication).

(I'm still working on a way to put issues that weren't released on a Wednesday into the right category).

    • I was thinking, once I finish coding the auto-categorization for these (It's a little complicated to explain. It's already auto-categorizing, but it only works properly if it's released on a wednesday, right now), I can also make it automatically add a note somewhere - maybe even in the infobox - to list the release date. I think it's good info to have as well.

Anyway, I'll make an announcement about it somewhere when it's all done.

In any case, use the Day field, and if you want, leave a note about the date. That's fine with me - but if I do automatically code in a note about it, it'll be doubled later, so we'll have to go in and fix those... (obviously, not an issue right now).

    • I was mostly referring to the dates from dcindexes that are obviously holidays & the books wouldn't have shipped. They (he?) probably just ran a program to pick Wednesdays from 1935 to the present. It doesn't seem to take into account when Wednesdays are a holiday (like 7/4 or 12/25 or 1/1).

  • Sorcery isn't an ability it's a power. It's magic. Al Jabr may practice Occultism but seems to favor Gadgetry.

While we have no official word on either I wouldn't go so far as to say he practices magic. Certainly not Electrokinesis and certainly not without the right coding. You can leave it without the bold as you have.

    • More like this:

      * {{Telekinesis}}: J'onn possesses the ability to move objects with his mind, which he described as ""molecular hypnosis" and "Martian mind-over-matter".<ref>{{c|Detective Comics #226}}</ref>

  • Hi. I was just curious, do you like image galleries for some reason, or just hate my slide shows?

  • I see you're making a few mistakes when you fill out the image template for covers (the Mad covers are the ones I've just noticed).

Using the drop box for license actually adds the template to the image TWICE if you fill the caption portion with the template. Don't use that drop box... like... ever.

The rest of the stuff you need to know can be found here.

    • Well, since Comics.org is just taking its images from scans as well, the source is still technically the comic.

Inputting a website should only be for things like promotional art or sketches, where the image does not appear in any comics.

    • Wikia did something to the User Page/Message Wall domain yesterday. I noticed the Stopping by to Say Hi badge was given out again yesterday for the first time in months. I'll check if Community Central has any knowledge of this.

  • I see you added Firestorm to your list of books (which is good, since nobody else wanted to). It would really help us move along the process of getting together the list of characters to move if you could index it all (were you going to do that anyway?) - in any case, if you do decide to index them, it would be a big help

    • Hatebunny, I'm not sure I understand what you are asking 100%, but here is my plan that I hope clarifies things for you. As I read each issue each month, I will make sure that the page has been created and has a proper cover scan. I will add all creators and characters while I'm reading it, and if time and desire permit, I will add a synopsis. It is highly unlikely that I will go back and populate any prior issues. But, moving forward, I will populate them. The first issue that I will be reading and taking car of is Fury of Firestorm Vol 1 10, which I suspect I will be working on next week sometime.... Just so you know, I bring a few comics to work, and this is what I do on my lunch break. :)

    • Just checked, and issues before #10 look like they have character info. I just need to upload a cover for #9 it looks like...

    • Yes, that's what I meant by "index". I don't think that issues 1-9 have the character appearances FULLY filled out, but I'm not sure of that.

        Loading editor
    • Then, yes. I plan on indexing :)

  • You can give <ref>s a name:

    <ref name="DC Retroactive">DC Retroactive - Wonder Woman #1</ref>

(or something, as long as it's not all numbers). If you have another item from that issue, you can add:

    <ref name="DC Retroactive"/>

    And it reuses the note.

    See here for an example.
