Synopsis for the 1st Story
Midnighter visit Saunders, Kansas where he find the entire town desolated and abandoned. The Authority knowledge what had happened here and Midnighter is given direct knowledge from Mindy that Metahumans fought over the town before Anthem went public two months later. Midnighter then returns to Harmony.
The next day, Midnighter talks with his landlady Elaine and later Elizabeth, a woman who was seen as compatible to Lucas Trent in the past, which he learns more about Anthem. He goes to the Los Angeles corporate headquarters of Anthem and confronts it's boss and acknowledge him that the recent attacks were staged, which doesn't surprise him. Anthem observes them from their security cameras and dispatch their metahuman team Liberty One. Midnighter, seeing that there is nothing he could do, attempts to leave but confront Liberty One member Shock and Awe, who then destroys the room they are in. Midnighter is blasted out of the building and lands onto the streets where he fights Liberty One. Ultimately, he is then defeated and taken away by Anthem.
Meanwhile, Mindy sees the news of Midnighter's capture which he is blame for the "attack" in Los Angeles. She is then alerted to her security alarm at the front of her hideout and investigate it, finding an armed Bellwether agent, who explicitly acknowledge her hacking into his organization, and fires his gun.
