Synopsis for Green Arrow: "Doom Over Gayland"

At Gayland Amusement Park, three different park stockholders are murdered within a few days. In the famous "Arrowplane" coupe, Green Arrow and Speedy drive to the park late at night, and use the car's catapault to launch Green Arrow into the park manager's office window, set high up in a fake medieval tower. Inside is Harlan Sloan, working late into the night. As Green Arrow questions him, outside, Speedy gets into a fight with four acrobat-hoodlums in red devil suits. Green Arrow shoots a slide-line between the tower window and the ground, and swoops into intervene in that fight, which quickly becomes a chase, on the roller-coaster tracks, with Green Arrow driving his Arrowplane in pursuit of the roller-coaster cars. Green Arrow repeats his stunt with the slide-line-arrow, enabling Speedy to slide to safety. The red devils abandon the coaster cars and acrobatically clamber away down the trestlework under the tracks.

Green Arrow forms a hunch about the next victim, and visits the home of a fourth stockholder, Carl Faber, but arrives too late; Faber has left for the park. At the park, they find Faber, rigged up in an overly-elaborate deathtrap on the Parachute Ride, and they use trick arrows to rescue him from that, then check out Harlan Sloan's office. He's missing. But not really, he's hiding behind a secret panel, and now emerges to converse with Faber and the two bowmen. Leaving Faber with Harlan, Green Arrow and Speedy explore the park grounds, and again encounter the four red devils. They quickly and decisively defeat them, hand-to-hand, and then pursue them on foot as the four punks flee. Inside the Fun House, the bad guys are able to trap the archers in a spinning room, and seemingly knock them out. But the heroes were playing possum, and this time they separate one devil from the others, capture him, and dress Green Arrow in his red suit, with its rubber mask. G.A. tries to infiltrate the gang. This doesn't work, Green Arrow and Speedy are soon knocked out again, and loaded into a gigantic twin-barrel circus cannon. The new plan is to shoot them into the House of Swords, right next to the Crocodile Pen.

By the time the heroes have escaped this combination of perils, the State Police have arrived, but are having a hard time cornering the acrobatic red devils. Green Arrow snags the lot of them with a weighted bolo arrow. Then Green Arrow plays his main hunch, calling Harlan Sloan's office, and tricking him into attempting to flee with a briefcase full of incriminating evidence. It turns out there was an oil deposit under the amusement park, and Sloan had planned to be the sole owner.

Green Arrow and Speedy take one of the rubber red devil masks for Oliver Queen's trophy room.
