The New Guardians are a team connected to the Green Lantern Corps mythos, named as successors to the Guardians of the Universe. The original version of the team was created during Millennium. Herupa Hando Hu of the Guardians and Nadia Safir of the Zamarons believed that humanity was the next great step for evolution in the universe, and developed an international super-hero team by giving those they believed to be chosen ones special powers. This incarnation was created by Steve Englehart and Joe Staton, first appearing in Millennium #1. (1988) The current version of the New Guardians are a team of top members from the seven Lantern Corps who originally assembled during Blackest Night and the War of Light. They include Atrocitus of the Red Lantern Corps, Carol Ferris of the Star Sapphire Corps, Hal Jordan of the Green Lantern Corps, Indigo of the Indigo Tribe, Larfleeze, also known as Agent Orange, Saint Walker of the Blue Lantern Corps, and Thaal Sinestro of the Sinestro Corps. As they come from forces that are regularly opposing, they are frequently at odds with each other and only unite to face a common threat.
