Synopsis for "Shadows Over Bludhaven"
Nightwing and Batman crash a Bachelor party to get a hold of Frankie Deever whose father Timothy "Lunchmeat" Deever is specialized in murder for hire. Interestingly, the heroes do not only defeat Frankie and his associates, but also a third party assassin who had his eyes set on killing the bachelor. Nightwing and Batman put both Frankie and the assassin into the Batmobile in hope to play them off against each other later. Dick definitely feels under pressure with his mentor being in Bludhaven. Batman wants Dick to nail Blockbuster, but Nightwing tries to explain that this city is corrupted in the highest places and one needs perfect evidence for a D.A. to touch a case like that.
While Lunchmeat Deever vainly waits for his son to arrive at the wedding ceremony, Frankie awakes in a container with his alleged killer laying besides him. Nightwing has the container wired and both him and Batman listen how the killer confesses that it was the father of Frankie's fiancee who hired him. Surprised by that information, the heroes return to Dick's apartment. Bruce thinks that Dick needs a better base of operations. Obviously, Dick lacks the necessary money, but Bruce tells him about a trust fund that could solve these problems.
In the meantime, Tad Ryerstad causes another incident in Dick's neighborhood. He clobbers a black man just because he is together with two white children who actually are his niece and nephew.
After dawn, Batman and Nightwing break into Lunchmeat Deever's industrial butchery, but walk right into a trap ...
