Synopsis for "Escape from Blackgate"

Garfield Lynns and The Dynamiteer were arguing about the best way to use the gunpowder to blow up a wall. Nightwing worked with the other inmates and they prepared a few charges of gunpowder to make their way out. Firefly and Dynamiteer started to fight each other and Nightwing was considering his options after blowing the wall.

Lock-Up was determined to kill all the inmates and he decided to do so by drowning them. With the help of KGBeast, Lock-Up opened a valve to let the sea water inside Blackgate Penitentiary's cellar.

The explosive charges were ready and Nightwing planned to use them later but as the water began entering the room, he decided that they must blew up the wall that moment. Nightwing set the explosives in the wall and all of the inmates were ready for the explosion but nothing happened. A few seconds later, the gunpowder exploded and the wall came crushing down. Nightwing and the others moved to the recently opened hole and Lock-Up noticed their escape. Nightwing moved faster than the others and before they could turn their attention to him, Nightwing started to climb up a pit using some hanging chains. The rest of the inmates tried to follow him but he dropped Monsoon on top of them all. Lynns was climbing as well and threatening Nightwing, who was climbing up faster until the KGBeast attacked him from above. The Beast had descended from the same hanging chains and was ready to kill Nightwing. Grayson used his acrobatic skills to knock down the KGBeast and Lynns at the same time. Once he was outside of the pit, Nightwing was attacked by the Trigger Twins. Nightwing dodged their attacks and managed to escape their shooting range. Lock-Up appeared and asked them about Nightwing. Without alarming them, Nightwing dropped a wall of boxes full of supplies on the three of them and blocked the way out of the pit. All the villains were knocked down and incapacitated, but the feat cost Nightwing much effort and he was feeling sick, tired and wasted after all he'd been through.

Nightwing called the Gotham City Police Department and Mackenzie Bock moved to Blackgate with some reinforcements in order to take control of the prison and all the inmates. Bock reclaimed Blackgate as part of Batman's territory.

In Gotham; Oracle was working on her computer when she heard some weird noises coming from out of her main window. She armed herself and went to see what was it. When she arrived, she saw Nightwing with his suit completely destroyed, soaking wet and clinging to the window. With his last breath, he told Barbara that he found a blind spot on her security net and that she must fix it; then Nightwing collapsed from exhaustion in Barbara's arms.
