Synopsis for "The Unusual Suspects"

Nightwing and Oracle go through a list os suspects that might be framing Bruce Wayne for the murder of Vesper Fairchild but in the end they find themselves back in square one.

Barbara talks about her suspicions about Bruce's innocence but Nightwing doesn't believe that for a moment. Barbara admits that she needs to get some sleep and Nightwing goes out, looking for clues.

Back in Bludhaven, the Lockhaven Prison is burning down to the ground while the police and fire department are unable to control the situation. Inside, Boone escapes his cell and takes down some guards on the way.

In Gotham City, Nightwing goes to Moxoncorp, to investigate Lewis Moxon and his daughter Mallory Moxon, as they are known enemies of Bruce Wayne. However, he is interrupted by Orpheus, who offers his help, but Nightwing turns his offer down in a rather rude way. Nightwing then approaches the Moxon's living place and he takes down the hounds on the grounds before starts listening Mallory and her father arguing. The old man can not be happier with Bruce's situation but Mallory doesn't like it at all. Once her father is gone and she is all alone, Mallory starts crying, much to Nightwing's surprise.

Hours later, Nightwing comes back to Oracle's Watchtower and tells Oracle what he learned at the Moxon's. while Barbara tells him that she has been investigating Lex Luthor, but as far as she thinks, the man is not the man they're looking for. At that moment, Oracle mentions the bad situation at Bludhaven and Nightwing takes the Wingcycle and rushes towards Lockhaven prison.

In less than an hour, Nightwing reaches his destination and manages to sneak inside the prison while the fire and police departments try to hold the inmates and stop the fire. Nightwing finds in the main cell block when he is confronted by an enraged Amygdala.

This comic issue is a part of the Bruce Wayne: Murderer? and Bruce Wayne: Fugitive story that went through every Batman Family title in 2002. Bruce Wayne was framed for the murder of his love interest Vesper Fairchild and forced to go on the run from the law so he could prove his innocence. This adventure almost completely compromised his identity from the inside.
