Synopsis for "Nobody's Friend"

A young Private Blair enters the European Front with a positive outlook and the belief that everyone is his buddy. He gets yelled at by his Sergeant who tells him he has no friends. Blair is determined to make a crack in Sgt. Yablecki's hard exterior. After several battles in which many of his squad mates die, including Sgt. Yablecki, he finds himself adopting the 'Nobody's Friend' policy of the now deceased Yablecki as not to be surrounded by death of friends, but of just acquaintences. He becomes a battle-hardened Sergeant who keeps his distance emotionally until one fateful day when he hears the news that the war is over and he instantly reverts back to his joyous attitudes and the belief that everybody's his friend.
