- This issue is the first appearance of Pooch, the K-9 mascot to Gunner and Sarge. Pooch will remain with the two for the remainder of their careers.

Trivia
- In this initial appearance, Pooch is given brown-colored fur on his cover appearance. In later issues, his fur will be colored white.
