Sir Percy Blakeney was an English nobleman who lived during the latter half of the 18th century. In 1787, he and his wife Marguerite were members of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. They worked alongside such notable personages as Lemuel Gulliver, Doctor Syn, Mistress Hill and Natty Bumppo. During the "Reign of Terror" of 1793-94, Percy adopted the guise of the Scarlet Pimpernel and rescued many British aristocrats from execution at the guillotine during the French Revolution.

Sir Percy Blakeney is a fictional character created by playwright Baroness Emma Magdalena Rosalia Maria Josefa Barbara Orczy. Blakeney was first featured in the 1905 novel The Scarlet Pimpernel. It is fair to assume that the comic book version of Blakeney shares the same history as that of his literary counterpart. To date, no material has been provided which directly challenges the original source material.
