Synopsis for "Images of the Dead"

When Anne Craton's cab is hijacked by a bank robber, the Phantom Stranger tries to stop their get away, however Anne is shot before the police arrive to take the crook away. Later, Anne's husband, artist Alan Cranton is offered $20,000 to create a forgery of a pharaoh's sarcophagus. Alan refuses initially even though he wishes to make enough money so that Anne doesn't have to drive a taxi anymore, however he soon learns that Anne is in the hospital and so he takes the job to pay for her medical treatment, in spite of warnings from the Phantom Stranger.

However, he is unaware that Osborn does not intent to pay him, but instead murder him when the sarcophagus is switched. When the Phantom Stranger gets involved, Osborne believes he's got the drop on them and puts them to death in a vat of boiling preservation fluid.

But they manage to survive thanks to the Phantom Stranger, and when Osborn presents the sarcophagus as an original, Alan emerges from it disguised as a mummy, scaring Osborn into confessing his crimes, and the Stranger talks Alan out of killing Osborne before he can be punished for his crimes. Later that night Dr. N. Sein has broken into a museum and kills the night watchman in order to obtain a skull which he believes will allow him to get revenge on the Phantom Stranger.
