Synopsis for "Point Blank, Part Five"
Blindfolded and ready for his execution at the hand of Tao's thugs, Grifter hears a gunshot and feels blood and brain-matter spray over him. Still in a state of confusion he believes it to be his own and thinks he's about to die. But suddenly the blindfold is removed by the man named Carver. He tells Grifter that they're on the same side and that he was working for Lynch. Carver tells Grifter to shoot him and handcuff him so Tao thinks Grifter escaped. Grifter does as he asks but demands to know where he can find Tao. Carver warns Grifter not to confront Tao but Grifter demands his location anyway. Carver reluctantly tells him.
Grifter sets out to sea and boards a yacht. After blasting his way through Tao's men, he finally comes face to face with Tao. Grifter tries to kill Tao before he can find a way to escape but Tao throws Grifter off by asking him how it felt to for Grifter to shoot Lynch. Grifter can't believe that he shot Lynch but as he fights off the memories, Tao causes him to remember what really happened. Tao reveals that he manipulated Grifter into shooting Lynch. He further reveals that he has arranged for the murder weapon to fall into the hands of the authorities if Grifter should kill him. And finally, Tao causes Grifter to forget the whole thing.
Grifter finds himself back at Domino's. The bartender asks if Grifter had any luck finding out what happened to Lynch. But he has no idea what she's talking about. Then as Grifter leaves the bar, Holden Carver runs up to him and asks what happened. Grifter doesn't recognize Carver anymore which is a real shock to Carver. Grifter leaves Carver and heads out to see what happened to Lynch.
