Synopsis for The Mouthpiece: "Mike Fooch, Czar of Crime"

Mike Fooch, from the south-side of town, has worked his way up thru the rackets on sheer, brash, aggressive toughness. Then he decides to take on the District Attorney. Meanwhile D.A. Bill Perkins spends his day in useless meetings, unable to get good evidence against Fooch. After hours, he changes identities and becomes the Mouthpiece, then pays an informal visit at Mike Fooch's penthouse apartment. Thru a window, the Mouthpiece observes as a frightened young woman demands to know why she has been brought there. She's a local shopkeeper and this is a shakedown, with Fooch's protection racket extorting money from merchants like her. But just then the Mouthpiece stumbles against the window, busting it with his elbow, and alerting Fooch, who leaps out thru the window. Shots are exchanged by these two, for several minutes, while the young lady runs away. Eventually they both run out of ammo, and continue with fists, which isn't so great for the Mouthpiece, who is not nearly as big as the gangster. Just as the burly thug is about to heave the masked vigilante over the edge of the roof, the lady shopkeeper shows up with a lit cigarette, and burns the back of the gangster's hand! He drops the Mouthpiece who recoils off the roof with a two-handed knockout uppercut, and down goes Fooch.

Later, thanks in part to the shopkeeper's testimony, big Mike Fooch is sentenced to life in prison.
