Pooch is a military canine who was active during World War II, usually fighting alongside Gunner and Sarge. Eventually he became the animal mascot of The Losers, an elite combat unit active in the European theater. He received the Purple Heart commendation for his services. Pooch was created by Robert Kanigher and Jerry Grandenetti, first appearing in Our Fighting Forces #49. (1959)
