Porcupine Man

From DC Database

Porcupine Man
The Porcupine Man was a legendary monster that was featured in many stories told by residents of Swainsville, New Mexico. Approximately every decade, it would regain popularity as alleged sightings occurred. A book was written about the beast, claiming it was extra-terrestrial in origin.[1]

Porcupine Man sightings began to occur in droves after the disappearance of the Flash following his wild run across the country after regaining his powers after having lost them during an alien invasion. He was confused and disoriented, and his skin had become imbedded with wooden shards and splinters as a result of his uncontrolled run. One local even went so far as to say that the Porcupine Man had taken control of the speedster, and that the Flash's true spirit had passed to himself. The public's reaction to these sightings reached a peak when several local boys went missing, prompting them to blame the monster for their disappearance. The city council hired Captain Cold and Golden Glider as consultants to deal with the problem.[2]

However, the boys had not been kidnapped by the monster, but had in fact been trapped inside a collapsed cave. When the Flash (with his wooden spines having been removed by Mason Trollbridge) became the one to rescue them, all charges against him were dropped.[3]
