Promethea is a demi-goddess that has used host bodies to provide the world with creativity. She is the reincarnating spirit of a Egyptian girl, made into the embodiment of imagination and magic. The girl lived in the 5th century Roman Egypt. Her father was a hermetic scholar, who was eventually killed by a christian mob. The Gods intervened, taking Promethea into the world of myth and fiction, the Immateria. Promethea then became a living story, who wander into the imagination of mortals. Promethea was created by Alan Moore and J.H. Williams III, first appearing in Promethea #1 (1999).
