History
Stargrave first appeared observing a confrontation between the Time Trapper and five Legionnaires.[1]
He then appears, convincing Brainiac 5 that he is 5's father, transformed by aliens and the power of an exploding sun.[2] He claimed to have been an ordinary mortal scientist studying a star when his life support failed, placing himself in a drug-induced suspended animation. He was found by aliens who teleported his "corpse" into a nearby star, at the moment of super-nova. His mind fused with the exploding plasma. The supernova apparently collapsing into a pulsar with a living heart. Brainiac 5 said he recognized Stargrave 15 years after seeing him as a child.
Brainiac 5 recognized his desire to rule the universe, beginning with eliminating the primary threat to his plans -- Mordru.
Sending Brainiac 5 to Zerox to steal Mordru's power, Brainiac 5 is instead told by the Star Stone that Stargrave is, in fact, Brainiac One, Superman's foe from the 20th Century. Brainiac 5 swears revenge on Stargrave, threatening to kill him.[3]
Stargrave's next plan was to reactivate the ancient Coluan computers that created him and turn the Coluan people into their slaves.[4] Superboy and Wildfire punched him into the sun.
Stargrave killed a woman named An Ryd, but Brainiac 5 framed Ultra Boy for the crime. Stargrave then apparently killed Ultra Boy.[5]
When Bismoll goes to an all-computer world system, which attracts Pulsar Stargrave, and the only force Senator Tenzil Kem can call upon to fight him are the Legion of Substitute Heroes. Stargrave is eventually defeated when Stone Boy is dropped on his head.
