Relic was a former enemy of Hal Jordan.
History
Before Futures End
Krona once led the Black Lanterns to kill Relic and Hal Jordan. Relic enlisted Hal to help him. Once they killed Krona, the Black Lantern Ring looked for Black Hand, but it was seized by Relic. But Hal showed Relic that he was about to die. With Martin Jordan complaining, Relic told Hal that the source wall could preserve him until he escaped. So they trapped Hal.[1]
