Personal History of Rick Veitch is unknown.
Professional History
Rick Veitch was a writer and artist for DC Comics. He is most noted for succeeding Alan Moore and Steve Bissette's revolutionary run on The Swamp Thing. Veitch quit DC Comics after a controversial unpublished story slated for Swamp Thing #88. The story would have taken place during a larger arc which involved the Swamp Thing hopskotching backwards through time. The Veitch treatment for issue #88 would have presented the Swamp Thing at the time of the Crucifixion and would have involved a meeting between the title character and Jesus Christ. DC's editor-in-chief, Jenette Kahn, felt that the story was too controversial, particularly in light of the recently released film, The Last Temptation of Christ, and she did not wish to risk offending Christian readers. Veitch's last full story on the series was issue #87. Group editor Karen Berger provided some insight into Veitch's departure from DC Comics in the letters column for issues #88 and #89.
